Inspect cables, hinges, legs, face-cradle attachments and upholstery. Follow manufacturer working-weight limits. Lock/secure adjustable components before the client gets on the table.
Keep pathways clear, manage rugs/cords, provide stable access and allow enough time for position changes. Clients with dizziness, weakness, pregnancy, mobility limitations or sedating medications may need extra assistance or slower transitions.
Use bolsters to support comfort and reduce strain, not to force textbook alignment. Check circulation, breathing, pain and pressure points after positioning.
Inspect cords and devices, keep liquids appropriately separated, follow manufacturer instructions and never use damaged equipment. Heating devices require attention to skin integrity, sensation, circulation, duration and temperature.
Check ingredients, allergies/sensitivities, expiration/storage instructions and contamination risk. Dispense products without repeatedly contaminating shared containers.
Maintain adequate lighting, ventilation, privacy, temperature control, clean restroom/handwashing access, clear exits and a plan for emergencies. Know where the AED/first-aid equipment is located when available.
